We carried out a feasibility study and scheme design for new assisted living retirement accommodation for an established family-owned care home near the Blackdown Hills in the South West. The owners wanted to add an extra offer to their existing highly reputable care home and dementia care establishment.

We provided sector-specific advice and option appraisals for placing assisted living on the site, working in close collaboration with locally based planning consultants. Our experience in the retirement sector, and insights that come from working in this specialist area for nearly 20 years, proved invaluable in helping our clients create a business plan and brief.

We held several co-design workshops with the client on-site, offering them the chance to review the Virtual Reality modelling we had prepared, showing different designs for the assisted living scheme. This is a process that is invaluable in helping lay-clients understand design proposals, taking away the stress of reviewing complex drawings that they may not be used to looking at.

We then developed the designs for the assisted living scheme to a level that would be suitable for submitting a planning application, before the client decided to pause progress on the development so they could focus on other parts of their business.
