This new mid-market care community for Mayfield Villages was granted planning permission in 2020. It forms part of a wider masterplan for the Sackville Road site in Hove. The mid-market care community will stand alongside Build to Rent apartments developed by MODA, therefore creating a unique multi-generational living scheme.
GFA are architects for the £60m Mayfield Hove scheme, which comprises 260 apartments plus shared communal facilities, including a shop, restaurant /bar bistro, and village hall in addition to a well-being area with a swimming pool and fitness suite. We created a subtle but well-defined hierarchy of spaces, graduated from public to semi-private to fully private. This allows residents to determine the level of social engagement that suits them. There will be easy access to public transport facilities, local amenities, and services. As a result, this scheme will transform this brownfield site in the centre of Hove.
Gaunt Francis Architects Director, Toby Adam, said “this will be a transformational scheme for this under-utilised site in Hove. Working in partnership with MODA and Brighton and Hove County Council has been a challenging but highly rewarding journey. Therefore, we look forward to the next steps with great excitement”.
