Toby is a highly experienced project architect and design team leader, with particular expertise in retirement living, care, and office fit out. He joined Gaunt Francis Architects in 2004 and was made a Director in 2011. Before joining GFA, Toby was an associate in a local Cardiff practice, and also worked for a large multi-disciplinary firm leading design teams for commercial clients such as Telereal and BT. He has considerable experience with community engagement and stakeholder consultation on both strategic land and retirement living projects.
Toby leads the digital transformation at GFA, implementing new document management tools and managing the shift to cloud-based systems to support hybrid working. He is also responsible for quality management, carbon reporting and HR.
Toby is an accredited RIBA Client Adviser, and has been a Design Review panellist for the Design Commission for Wales for the past 10 years.
Beyond architecture, Toby is a trustee and current Chair of the Makers Guild in Wales.
