The Pearson Building and the Slade School of Fine Art form two sides of the Grade 1 Listed quadrangle at the heart of the UCL Campus in central London.
Through careful co-ordination with English Heritage and the Camden Planning Department, the interior of the 2600m2 Pearson Building has been reconfigured to create a series of new research offices and student spaces. A series of contemporary mezzanine floors, new entrances and internal glazed screens forming internal walls provide, within the strong historical context, a new home for the Geography Department.
In conjunction with the works within the building, a dramatic new sculpture studio is formed under the listed quadrangle itself and naturally lit via large glass panels set into the lawn.
