Katja graduated in 2002 from the University of Applied Sciences in Muenster and worked in both the private and public sector in Germany and Australia, including the University of Osnabrueck and an interior architect’s practice. Katja moved to Wales in 2006 and joined Gaunt Francis Architects to work on industrial, commercial and residential projects across England and Wales. Her range of experience was further broadened when Katja worked on a variety of projects in the health, education and community sectors with Capita Symonds before re-joining Gaunt Francis Architects in 2014. She was made an Associate in 2017.

Katja has always had a keen interest in sustainable design and was the Project Architect for ‘Green House’, a design that won the ‘Home for the Future’ competition in 2007 and went on to be built as a prototype Code Level 6, zero carbon house at the BRE’s Innovation Park in Garston. Katja qualified as a Passive House Designer in 2020.
